How to name a bard
Every bard worth talking about answers to two names. One is stitched into a parish register somewhere — plain, forgettable, given by parents who had no idea what their child would become. The other is painted on tavern signs and shouted at the end of a ballad: the stage name, chosen the moment the birth name stopped being big enough.
A good stage name has one job: to stick. It needs to sit well in a rhyme, so a room full of drunks can chant it back at the end of a chorus. It should sound a little grander than the person carrying it — too polished, too pretty — because a bard's whole trade is convincing a room the story is bigger than the truth. Vanity isn't a flaw here; it's the point.
The Bard Name Generator forges both halves. Instant mode pairs musical, rhythmic syllables into names that read well on a marquee — Lyrondo, Sonnaris, Vesperelle — with male, female and any-gender leanings. Use the count control to fill a whole traveling troupe, or find the one name your party's bard performs under.
Arcane mode goes further with AI: it gives each bard a birth name to hide behind, a stage name built to be remembered, and a table-ready hook — the song they're famous (or infamous) for, an audience they'd be wise to avoid, a story they've dressed up prettier than it happened, or a patron they've lost. Forge a batch and keep the one that deserves its own encore.
